By God, I Think I've Got it.

Over the past few weeks, maybe months, I've been suffering from a serious case of writers block. I have a lot of good ideas floating around in my head and can write the story easy enough up there, but when it comes to actually getting the words to paper they just disappear. There's nothing more annoying.

But I think I may have figured out what the problem is. It's my lack of a proper work area. My desk is a mess and not by my own hand and I usually feel guilty for going into the office to write after being at work all day. My family needs to spend time with me too. But I can't write in the family room. There's to many distractions.

Perhaps what I need to do is set aside a couple of hours a week to just write. My stories won't get done over night but that's not a big deal. They'll get done a lot faster than they currently are.

So there we have it. My daughter's napping and my wife's reading so maybe I'll take this opportunity to get dressed and cleaned, tidy my desk and do some writing.

Let's keep our fingers crossed this works.

And now that I think of it, this will probably work when it comes to my photography too. I've had a total lack of inspiration lately and I don't think it has to do with the terrible weather we've had this year. There's still a lot of beauty in a winter storm. I just haven't had the enthusiasm to go out and take photos.

Maybe I'll get the basement all cleaned up and set up an area where I can start taking portraits. Set some time aside for that as well and see where it goes.

Cheers.

I Feel so Sorry for Some Americans

Canada means peace and no army in the world does a better job in protecting peace than the Canadian army.

By now it's safe to say every Canadian has heard what Greg Gutfeld of Fox News had to say about the Canadian military.

It's sad really.

I went to school for journalism and one of the first things they teach you is to get the whole story. Mr. Gutfeld obviously didn't do his research.

Canadian soldiers are at this very moment dying in a war that's not there's. Dying to help protect American liberty. I hope he appreciates their sacrifice to protect his right to say these stupid things about our country.

The Canadian army has proven itself time and time again throughout history. We helped the British win the Boer war. The sight of the Canadian corps coming over the trenches in the first world war was enough to cause fear in the German army. The Canadian army moved the furthest inland during the d-day landings, more than any other army. It was the lessons learned by the Canadian sacrifice during the Dieppe raids that helped secure victory during the D-day landings. Peace keepers were established by a Canadian. We are synonymous with peace and military aid.

And now the Canadian army is over in Afghanistan, protecting its citizens. Dying to keep them safe and give them a better future.

To quote Spiderman, "with great power comes great responsibility". Canada uses its power to protect the weak. To secure peace. And we ask for nothing in return.

The United States uses its power to intimidate. To get what they want. Is this not the definition of a bully?

"If you're truly our ally then you'll do what we want."

And if Mr. Gutfeld thinks now is a good time to invade our country because we "have no army" then I say bring it on. The U.S. tried it once before and failed and now would be no different. They may take some ground in the beginning but we would fight back. We would push the U.S. army back through their borders, past their capital and watch as they're crushed between us and Mexico because, let's face it, Mexico won't be coming to their aid.

In fact what allies would they really have. Once one bullied nation stands up to the bully the rest will follow suit. Canada is not just one nation. We are still part of the British monarchy which automatically allies us with England and every other nation under the Queen.

I extend Mr. Gutfeld this invitation: come to Afghanistan, ride with our troops while they travel the Afghan roads. If you still think Canada has no army then so be it. Come back to the United States and say what you want. We won't stop you.

This was not meant to be a stab at all Americans. I know they don't all feel this way. And don't get me wrong, while I don't agree with the war I do have a lot of respect for all the men and women from all the nations over there trying to make a difference. It takes a lot of courage for them to do what they do. Something I don't think Fox News knows anything about.

Finding time for one's self

There is not enough time in the day. How often do you hear yourself saying that? I say it quite often, what with trying to juggle a full time job, a part time business, a wife and a daughter trying to find the time to fit in time for yourself is just damn near impossible.

I'm trying to write one novel while I have an idea for another in mind but I can't seem to find the time to write. And when I do I'm way to exhausted to write. If I work during the day I have an hour and a half to spend with Isabelle before she's off to bed and then I want to spend some time with Shawna before we go to bed. And I work nights I have a couple of hours to spend with both before I go to work provided I can get out of bed. I'm currently on two medications. One makes me very tired and I'm extremely groggy in the morning. It makes it hard to get out of bed some days.

So you see the dilemma of finding time for your self.

But it does eventually happen. Like now my wife is helping her mom do her taxes and Isabelle is in bed. She just went down and after crying for five minutes stopped.

Okay, so this was a pretty lame blog. Give me a little time and I'll have something better for you.

Hello and welcome to my blog.

So here we are. The beginning of my blog. Why blog? Why not. If any one cares to read this, then great. If not, oh well. This is for me.

Where to begin. Well, if you've you've read my "about me" section you know I have a wife named Shawna and a daughter named Isabelle. I love both very much. My wife and I run a photography studio called Angelic Arts Photography. It's more of a part time business right now but we're getting busier.

Isabelle is such a ham. She'll be two next month which only makes me feel older. She's already going through the terrible twos. Actually she started them when she was less than one. Yes, that's right. They can start the terrible twos before they turn two. But I still love her. She's very smart and has no fear. She started walking at a very early age and every doctor that saw her said she was very advanced. She gets that from her mother.

What can I say about myself. I'll be 30 in May. I have a day job but I'm not saying where it is because I'm not particularly fond of it and may at times bad mouth it and my employees.

I'm currently watching Twilight for the second time this weekend with my wife. She, like many others, loves this series. She's read all the books I don't know how many times. I'm going to read the first book, eventually. I just haven't had the patients to sit down and read anything.

I'm also writing a novel with an idea for two more in my head.

Want to know what it's about? To bad. I'm not telling. Not until they're done will anyone other than my wife know what they're about. God willing I'll make some money off them.

Well, That's it for now.
